The Panther Regiment Feeder Programs
Midlothian High School is fed by two class CC middle schools, Frank Seale Middle School and Walnut Grove Middle School. The band programs at both middle schools start beginners in the 6th grade and host two concert bands of 7th and 8th graders. The concert bands are assembled by audition at the end of each school year. In addition to the two concert bands, both middle schools also have an after school jazz band program.
Students involved in the Frank Seale and Walnut Grove band programs participate in many activities and competitions throughout the school year. Individually, 7th and 8th graders compete in the Region 20 middle school band All-Region Audition during the fall and in the spring, all band students prepare a solo and/or ensemble for the Solo & Ensemble event. The concert bands prepare for and compete in the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading contest held each spring. In addition, the concert bands, jazz bands and full beginner band compete in various other contests, perform in many concerts, and travel to the feeding elementary schools to show off their musical talents.
The band programs at MHS, FSMS and WGMS work together to ensure that each student is given every opportunity to grow as young musicians and young adults.
